Dr. Godwin teaches Biblical Studies, Philosophy, Basic Writing, and Creative Writing at Quill College, a small liberal arts college, located in the center of a mid-Atlantic state, of 1,000 students.

She earned her doctorate in Biblical Studies from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., her M. Phil. at The George Washington University, and her B.A. from Smith College.

Dr. Godwin did not know Sylvia Plath personally. However, during a private conversation at a Smith Tea, Plath revealed to young Jane, "As an agnostic humanist, I view science as the only true God, but in our God-almighty culture, God always wins."

And God Wins, Professor Godwin's award-winning study on atheism and existentialism as valid offshoots of organized religion, has sparked controversy throughout her field. In her work, she argues against the premise of Pascal's Wager.

"Stirring up the proverbial God pot is a good thing," Dr. Godwin said in a recent faculty profile in The Barb, the school newspaper. "It's too easy for religious policy makers to dig in and entrench themselves in old ideas. My study simply offers other possibilities and alternatives for atheists and agnostics who seek a type of spiritual secularism."

She acts as faculty advisor of The Quill Review, an online literary magazine dedicated to publishing excellent poems, stories, and essays by Quill students with the works of new and established writers outside the college community.

Dr. Godwin is currently at work on The God Net, a semi-autobiographical novel about an academic woman who guides her pastor husband through the murky waters of Alzheimer's.

She is an active board member of the Quill City Council and The Quill City Board of Eminent Domain. She also chairs the board of trustees of the Alzheimer's Association, Quill City branch.

Dr. Godwin and her retired husband the Rev. Kirk Worden have two grown children, daughter Godwyna and son Godwynn. She has one granddaughter, Sinead Aidan.
